Leadership and Management Development

Community Health Services

We have worked with the executive/leadership teams of several organisations in the Victorian community health sector in situations which illustrate our ‘dual focus’ approach to workshop design and facilitation. Clients include both metropolitan and rural services.

In one service we were engaged to work with the leadership team to explore the factors that were impeding optimal performance of the management group, at the same time assisting them to review progress against their strategic plan.

Elsewhere, we have assisted well established leadership teams to undertake operation planning based on an existing strategic plan; at the same time assisting them to review their own dynamics and make incremental improvements.

Preparation for these workshops involves:

  • gaining an understanding of desired outcomes,
  • an in-depth interview with each member of the executive team,
  • leading the design and facilitation of the executive/ leadership team off-site workshop.
Developing change agents and change leaders

Contemporary organisations need change leaders at all levels and major change programmes require change leaders with potent influencing skills.  We have designed and delivered professional development programs for people in formal management roles and for staff assigned to temporary change agent responsibilities to equip them with the necessary skill to influence and engage others in the change.  Experiential learning techniques are used to enable participants to apply theory to practice.

In a project undertaken with Innovative Practice Pty Ltd we designed and delivered a workshop series for 70 staff members identified as ‘Change Catalysts’ to lead implementation of a major IT implementation. We incorporated a variety of learning methods into the design to achieve the aims of the program. Participants attended skill-based workshops, formed action learning groups based in regions, and worked as a large group to explore the implications of the forthcoming implementation. Professional actors were used within the workshop series to support workplace simulations.
